Festival of Quilts 2014
Two members Vivien Little and Jill Gray entered quilts into Europe's leading Patchwork and Quilting show at the NEC this year. As Guild members they entered the Guild challenge which this year was "In my Garden".

Where are the Deer? - Vivien Little
"Where are the Deer?" was the title of Vivien's piece based on her own garden which is surrounded by mature trees and close to the Wyre Forest which brings a host of wild life to her doorstep. When her daughter, for whom the quilt has been made for, saw the quilt and asked "where are the deer", hence the title!

"Up the Garden Path". Jill's interest in garden plans and symbols has been the inspiration for her piece. Fruit trees, fruits, plants and vegetables from her own garden were included within the garden plan.

Each year members of the EQA ( European Quilt Associations) are invited to submit small quilts to a specific theme and specification. This year the theme was "Seasonal Gardens" with miniature quilts measuring 30cm square. Jill produced a piece titled " Millesfleurs" which was based on the theme of Knot gardens.

Kidderminster Forest Quilters and Husum Storm Quilters
Forest Quilters are twinned with a quilting group Storm Quilters in Husum, Germany and we are happy to exchange visits with them. We have been over there twice and in May 2013 it will be their third visit to us.

We have arranged a programme for their stay which will include a visit to the Kidderminster Carpet Museum with a German commentary, a day at Malvern Quilt Show and a private tour of Harvington Hall, near Kidderminster, a sit & sew, a beetle drive with a fish and chip supper and a get-together with other members of Forest Quilters.

To end their visit they will go into Birmingham for 3 days and we will accompany them to concerts at the Birmingham Symphony Hall and the Town Hall.

We have made some good friends with our fellow quilters from Germany and we hope to keep visiting for many years to come.

2011 Exhibition News
Forest quilters are to stage a small exhibition in May. This will be a selection of quilts demonstrating a taste of what the group makes. If you are in Bewdley in may and wish a creative distraction please visit Bewdley library to see a sample of our work

At the end of July a small party from forest quilters are off to visit our twinning town Husum, Germany. Over the last three years, we have made close links with the "Storm Quilters", so much so that we have been invited to exhibit with them in a joint exhibition in their prestigious town hall. This is the first exhibition of its kind, the theme will be "our town, our friendship". It really is an exciting venture for both groups, visit the website later in the year for an update on both exhibitions.
